A tribute to Federico Fellini by the Orjazztra Vienna, founded by composer Christian Muthspiel. The program 'La Melodia della Strada' translates Fellini's cinematic world into intoxicating music more info
The Orjazztra Vienna, founded by composer and conductor Christian Muthspiel, quickly became an institution after its premiere. This is not only due to the presence of some of the best young musicians from the Austrian jazz scene, but also because the bandleader is a visionary who extracts new colors, forms, textures, and moods from the classic big band lineup. Muthspiel's unique handling of the large sound body is particularly impressive in a tribute to the legendary filmmaker Federico Fellini. The program, titled "La Melodia della Strada" and commissioned by the La Strada Graz Festival, is full of "Dolce Vita." Christian Muthspiel translated the scenic, dream-like sequences, the Italian zest for life, and the quirky humor of Fellini's films into intoxicating music that often evokes its own images, projecting plots onto the inner screen of the listeners. Lineup: Stephanie Schoiswohl (sax, cl, fl), Patrick Dunst (sax, cl, fl), Gerald Preinfalk (sax, cl, fl), Robert Unterköfler (sax, cl, fl), Ilse Riedler (sax, cl, fl), Florian Bauer (sax, cl, fl), Gerhard Ornig (tp, flh), Lorenz Raab (tp, flh), Dominik Fuss (tp, flh), Daniel Holzleitner (tb), Alois Eberl (tb), Christina Lachberger (tb), Viola Hammer (p), Judith Ferstl (b), Marc Mezgolits (b), Marton Juhasz (dr), Sebastian Simsa (dr), Christian Muthspiel (comp, cond). Admission Prices: General Admission: 30€, Students/Pupils: 15€, Members: 15€.

The duo of Munich pianist Luca Zambito and trumpeter Julian Hesse brings together two outstanding voices of the Munich jazz scene. With a fine sense for tonal nuances, the two musicians create a dialogue full of lightness, depth, and spontaneous energy more info
The duo of Munich pianist Luca Zambito and trumpeter Julian Hesse brings together two outstanding voices of the Munich jazz scene. With a fine sense for tonal nuances, the two musicians create a dialogue full of lightness, depth, and spontaneous energy. Their interplay lives in and from the moment – sometimes delicate and lyrical, sometimes powerful and full of rhythmic tension. They draw from a rich repertoire of original compositions, fused with their shared love for the Great American Songbook, whose timeless treasures they illuminate in a refreshing, personal way. The reduced instrumentation of piano and trumpet opens up a wide range of sounds – from intimate chamber music character to orchestral fullness. Zambito's harmonic sensitivity and Hesse's warmly radiant trumpet tone complement each other to form a multifaceted whole that immediately touches the audience.

Bike demo against the IAA 2025 – For a real mobility transition. Protest for truly sustainable mobility: more space for walking, cycling, and public transport more info

"Fressen oder gefressen werden" is an installative performance by OPEN HOUSE. The performance delves into themes of consumption and survival, with OPEN HOUSE metaphorically "eating up" the PATHOS theater. The description vividly portrays the destruction of typical theater elements such as posters, logos, flyers, and even technical equipment, symbolizing a complete takeover. The collective, ever-hungry maw of OPEN HOUSE consumes everything, leaving nothing behind but the "taste of PATHOS theater." This performance serves as a powerful statement about hunger, consumption, and the collective's desire to engage in political and self-determined theatrical work prior to professionalization.

The September edition of TUNE is dedicated to the Munich-based composer, sound artist, and music producer Beni Brachtel, featuring two concerts and an artist talk. On the second evening, titled Ode to Unpossible Musics, the positive forces of music are celebrated and nurtured more info
The September edition of TUNE is dedicated to the Munich-based composer, sound artist, and music producer Beni Brachtel and includes two concerts and an artist talk. ATTACK DECAY SUSTAIN is a new multi-channel audio installation by Beni Brachtel, commissioned for the TUNE sound program in the Terrassensaal. It will be installed for six months starting December 12, 2025. In September, as part of TUNE, the artist presents a live adaptation of the sound installation over two consecutive evenings, with performances complementing each other. The work is interpreted by the cello group of the Munich Symphony Orchestra, continuing Brachtel's collaboration with this ensemble, which began in 2024 when he composed and recorded his orchestral suite Monument eines unbekannten Menschen with the ensemble for Ersan Mondtag's contribution to the German Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2024. On the first evening, the cello group of the Munich Symphony Orchestra performs ATTACK DECAY SUSTAIN. On the second evening, titled Ode to Unpossible Musics, the positive forces of music are celebrated and nurtured. The same musicians interpret a selection of Brachtel's own compositions. An artist talk with Beni Brachtel takes place before the concert. Ode to Unpossible Musics As a composer, Brachtel often strives to let the music speak for itself. Even if his works often arise from difficult contexts, they always retain a special power to uplift. This ability to transform material into something that is not necessarily cheerful but emotionally pure is central to his work. Listeners are invited to draw from it what resonates most deeply within them. Melancholy has a special gravitational force that many feel but rarely can put into words. This attraction may stem from the intuitive realization that too clear a naming of such feelings risks being overwhelmed by them. Ode to Unpossible Musics explores themes that are often overlooked, dismissed, or tacitly avoided; not out of ignorance, but often for personal, even unconscious reasons. It seeks this fragile point of balance where lightness and heaviness coexist – a kind of emotional tightrope walk that is both precarious and insightful. The deeper one delves as a creator into the gravitational fields of human emotions, the greater the risk and the greater the discovery. This work is an an ode to musical roller coasters, to detours and digressions, to letting go and embracing the unresolved. It celebrates the beauty of what defies definition: the impossible.

Experience the exuberant, satirical, and experimental electro-glam-art-rock of Chicago's Bobby Conn, presenting his new album 'Bobby’s Place' more info
Welcome to Bobby’s Place, the new album with a split personality from long-time musical troublemaker and cultural provocateur Bobby Conn! Bobby Conn is a singer, songwriter, and performance artist from Chicago. He emerged from Chicago's mid-90s "No-Wave" scene – a mix of noise art and performance – but quickly developed a reputation for exuberant, excessive performances, satirical-political lyrics, and experimental electro-glam-art-rock. Side A shows Bobby in a tent somewhere on the astral plane, surrounded by synthesizers, woodwinds, hand drums, and a pulsating psychedelic fog. Planet Earth and the real world are only faintly visible in the distance. Side One, however, shows Bobby as the protagonist of an alternative workplace sitcom – also titled Bobby’s Place. In each episode, Bobby starts a new small business, such as a restaurant or a nail salon, with a team of puppets. But the business inevitably fails and ends in bankruptcy – even before the end of the episode. But that doesn't stop Bobby, and the six tightly arranged glam-rock pieces on Side One are proof of that. Basically, each side exists as a standalone concept – which one should you listen to first? There is no right answer: both are the perfect introduction to Bobby’s Place. Admission: Presale (VVK): 18€ plus fees, Box Office (AK): 23€, Reduced Box Office (ermäßigte AK): 18€. Reduced admission applies to: Students, apprentices, severely disabled persons (registered accompanying person has free entry), pensioners, volunteers of the Voluntary Social Year, and participants of the Voluntary Ecological Year. Doors Open (Einlass): 19:00.

The "Lab" in The Munich Lab Band stands for "Laboratorium" – a place where highly exciting, never overly intellectual ideas and pieces are created. The orchestra's extensive repertoire includes charts that intertwine jazz with elements of classical music, blending new and old. Felix Ecke and Vincent Eberle, the two composers of the group, emphasize revitalizing tradition, extracting something modern and progressive from it, and creating enough freedom for the hand-picked soloists. The pieces by the Munich Lab Band are sometimes of almost monumental opulence, powerful and overwhelming in sound, then again delicate, almost fragile, dreamy, and ethereal. The rich stylistic, atmospheric, and emotional spectrum of this Big Band is its proud asset.

Lecture and discussion with Peter Bierl on the topic of fascism. Peter Bierl is a journalist, political scientist, member of the Verdi union, and lives near Munich more info
Fascism or what? – Lecture and discussion with Peter Bierl. 'Whoever speaks of populism is downplaying it. The term right-wing extremism suggests that a democratic center is threatened by the fringes, and lumps left and right together. Fascism seems inappropriate when right-wingers do not come in brown shirts and jackboots, and the left itself has worn out the term through indiscriminate use. Typical of historical fascism as well as today's right-wing movements is diversity. The development is fed by many sources, until inhumanity seems normal to too many. Right-libertarians as well as left-nationalists, esotericists as well as lateral thinkers contribute to this. Parties up to the Social Democrats adopt right-wing positions, such as the policy of sealing off borders. Conservatives and liberals collude with fascists in Italy or the Netherlands. Right-wing movements cultivate anti-Semitism, racism, and anti-feminism, fantasies of hatred and violence. Social Darwinism, however, is not just a figment of the imagination, but people are sorted into winners and losers in the everyday life of a competitive society. Nationalism is not an invention of fascism, but the nation is the ideological glue of state and society, which everyone from Habeck to Wagenknecht invokes. So what is special about successful right-wing movements? If concepts are to serve as handles to understand and change reality, which one would be appropriate for them? Peter Bierl will present some reflections on this for discussion in his lecture.' Peter Bierl is a journalist, political scientist, member of the Verdi union, and lives near Munich. His most recent publications include 'Einmaleins der Kapitalismuskritik' (extended second edition, 2025), 'Unmenschlichkeit als Programm' (2022), 'Die Legende von den Strippenziehern: Verschwörungsdenken im Zeitalter des Wassermanns' (2021), and 'Die Revolution ist großartig – Was Rosa Luxemburg uns heute noch zu sagen hat' (2020). In addition, as always, drinks, delicious vegan food, and voucher exchange. Open from 8:00 PM – lecture at 9:00 PM. In cooperation with the Kurt Eisner Verein.

On the occasion of Erik Satie's 100th anniversary of his death, Dutch bassist Caspar van Meel delves into the sound worlds of the great impressionist, reinterpreting and expanding them. "Satie – A Time Remembered" is an album where van Meel brings together Satie's special harmonies, dreamy melodies, and rich colors with the cosmos of jazz. Caspar van Meel often crosses boundaries, having composed works that ventured the crossover from classical to jazz for institutions like the Tonhalle Düsseldorf and the Bochumer Symphoniker. In the pure jazz idiom, he has worked with notable artists such as Steve Coleman, Vijay Iyer, Jeff Tain Watts, Reggie Workman, Philip Catherine, Götz Alsmann, Gerd Dudek, Matthias Schriefl, Pablo Held, the WDR Big Band, and Jonas Burgwinkel.

Roswitha Schmelzl (soprano) and Helmut Weigl (chitarrone) perform works by G. Giovanni Kapsperger, Helmut Weigl, and others more info
"The Song of Solomon", "The Song of Love" or in Latin "Canticum Canticorum", the most sensual book of the Bible bears many titles. The Hebrew translates to: "Song of Songs", i.e. most beautiful song. Poetic, but also with great directness, it sings of love, the beauty of man and woman, desire, eroticism and devotion. For centuries, composers have been inspired by the beguilingly beautiful poems. So too Helmut Weigl, who used the composition technique of the Seconda Practica of the early 17th century, explicitly set for soprano and chitarrone.

Wolfgang Krebs explores the satirical illusion of an independent Bavaria, questioning if 'Bavaria First!' is a dream or a nightmare more info
Edmund S., former Prime Minister of Bavaria, always knew it: Bavaria, the best federal state of all, puts in more effort than all the others combined! And what does it get for it? It finances the others! He always dreamed of making Bavaria independent. Bavaria as the England of the Federal Republic! Away from the rest of Germany! No more federalism! "Bavaria first!" The dream becomes reality. At least as an illusion. Who sits in the cabinet, what is the relationship with the friendly states of Austria and Baden-Württemberg? Will one say at the end of the evening and the dream: Oh yes, that would be nice! Or rather: Thank God it was just a dream. Wolfgang Krebs is, as always, all alone on stage, and as always, together with many people. He shows what Edmund's dream could look like. If Bavaria becomes independent to prove to the world on its own: BAVARIA FIRST!

Performative evening about self-protection as resistance by Caner Akdeniz & Team. How do you protect yourself from racism when state protection is lacking? more info
'Protect Yourself' is a performative evening about self-protection as resistance by Caner Akdeniz & Team. Inspired by Esther Bejarano's quote, 'Those who fight against Nazis cannot rely on the state,' the event addresses the experience of growing up in a society where racist violence is commonplace, and the question of how to protect oneself when state protection is absent. Drawing from autobiographical memories, the performance unfolds a collective narrative of anti-racist self-defense. It's a story that seeks support, even where it was never intended. Together, and against a hostile trained artificial intelligence, the evening explores themes of adaptation and fear, resistance, solidarity, and the strength that grows from fear. Soulkraut is a trio with guitarist Adrian Reiter, organist André Schwager, and drummer Christoph Holzhauser. Their sound is tight, cool, and casual, inspired by Motown, The Meters, The Daptones, and John Scofield, presenting their program 'Full of Dreams.' more info
Yes, we Krauts can also do soul, we know our way around powerful, springy grooves, over which the guitar can show its full funkiness and the Hammond B 3 wonderfully wafts, hisses and roars. Soulkraut is a trio with guitarist Adrian Reiter, organist André Schwager and drummer Christoph Holzhauser. The members of this lively trio have repeatedly distinguished themselves in recent years with soulful jazz, jazz that is soulful, that serves both heart and head and - depending on the project - was designed very differently. Their common sound is damn tight, but also very cool and casual, inspired by legendary Motown recordings, by the Meters, the Daptones, but also by John Scofield. The nice thing is: despite the audible influences, the three Krauts have developed something of their own that does without gimmickry, always gets to the core of the music quickly and shows us that the simple doesn't have to be anything reprehensible. In the Unterfahrt, the three soul brothers present their program Full of Dreams.

All about soul: If you like Wilson Pickett, Tower of Power or the Blues Brothers, you've come to the right place with the Troubleshooters. Crisp brass sections, a grooving rhythm section and tender to funky soul vocals characterize the formation from Munich more info
What is soul? When funk rhythms meet blues scales, when sharp brass riffs push against the pressure of the rhythm section, when the walls shake and the tables dance: that's soul. The Troubleshooters' program takes you back to the sixties, leads you in an arc through the seventies and eighties and into the modern era. Classics by Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin or the Blues Brothers combine harmoniously in the band's setup with songs by Tower of Power, Incognito or early Phil Collins. The Troubleshooters work their way through the decades with stylistic confidence, with a promise that always applies: soul is fun, for the band on stage, for the audience in the hall. An event by Pasinger Fabrik GmbH.

SUNDAY IN LOVE by Electroamore, Number two. The ultimate Sunday format. At Import Export. On Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 3 PM to 9 PM. Depending on the weather, it will be held either outdoors or indoors. After the wonderful debut of Sunday in Love in July, we invite you and all your friends again in September for a super-duper Sunday party. On the decks will be resident DJs Safahs & DJ FM, plus special guest DJ TRASHLICE. It's still open whether it will be a 'darkness party' or a 'brightness party' because of the weather, well, we'll see. Presumably, Sunday in Love will be a 'darkness party' inside Import Export on the main floor with a real 3 AM club feeling directly from 3 PM. And assuming we have sensational weather, which is certainly possible in September, then Sunday in Love will be a 'brightness party' with a semi-dark area outside, like Ibiza again, but completely different and certainly not even remotely comparable. Import Export also has a very well-stocked menu with non-alcoholic drinks, so grab one, it's Sunday after all! And of course: If you're there, it's a little bit nicer than without you. That's clear.

Pianist Matthias Bublath leads the Eight Cylinder Bigband, a powerful jazz orchestra featuring a Hammond organ. The music ranges from blues and gospel to soul, funk, and Latin grooves more info
Where the era of jazz orchestras ended in the forties, many young big bands are now starting anew. Pianist, keyboardist, and organist Matthias Bublath is now realizing his musical passions on a grand scale. And because he likes it powerful, his Jazz Orchestra bears the fitting name: Eight Cylinder Bigband. What gives this musical engine an unusually large displacement, torque, and pulling power is the fact that Bublath has tailored this project not only for the big band but also for the Hammond organ: the largest line-up in jazz meets an instrument that is almost an orchestra in itself. Unlike earlier Hammond greats who fulfilled their dream of a big band, Bublath wrote all the pieces and arrangements himself. The range extends from blues and gospel to soul and funk to Afro-Caribbean and Latin – the main thing is that it grooves. Admission Prices: General Admission: 20€, Students/Pupils: 10€, Members: 10€. Line-up/Performers: Ulrich Wangenheim (sax), Florian Riedl (sax), Tom Förster (sax), Moritz Stahl (sax), Florian Leuschner (sax), Florian Jechlinger (tp), Felix Jechlinger (tp), Philipp Staudt (tp), Nemanja Jovanovic (tp), Hans Heiner Bettinger (tb), Thorben Schütt (tb), Freddy Andrej (tb), Erwin Gregg (tb), Ferdinand Kirner (git), Matthias Bublath (keys), Patrick Scales (b), Christian Lettner (dr)

With "Anchorage," Young Rebel Set releases their first new single since 2013! "Anchorage" is the first song from their new EP "SUN." A discussion series at Habibi Kiosk where Suzan Çakar and guests connect culture with attitude, focusing on life's political, personal, and poetic facets more info
"Auf einen Mokka mit Sue" is a new discussion series at Habibi Kiosk. Suzan Çakar regularly invites changing guests and connects culture with attitude – sometimes in conversation, sometimes in performative moments, always as an invitation to think together. The focus is on exchanging ideas about life in all its facets: political, personal, and poetic. Voices that are often unheard are given a platform – especially women, marginalized people, and people with a migration history. It is always about questions of identity, resistance, belonging, body, language, and origin – all that where the private becomes political and art and culture can become spaces of self-empowerment. The format also sees itself as part of a post-migrant cultural landscape – artistically, but also in terms of permeability and accessibility. So come by for a mocha with Sue at Habibi Kiosk!

Music theater piece that retells the migration history of Germany from the perspective of the often unheard voices more info
TEUTONISTAN is a music theater piece that re-tells migrant history in Germany from the perspective of those who are often unheard. It is described as empowering, poetic, and radical, combining live music with harsh noise, spoken word with documentary texts, and political interventions with poetic fiction. The performance integrates interviews, social media clips, and historical sources with literature and composition, creating a vibrant archive of memory through archive, concert, performance, and protest. This scenic collage aims to make migration, language, everyday life, and the persistence of racism visible and audible, covering themes from arrival in a foreign land and linguistic barriers to the continuities of racist violence and right-wing ideologies in the present. The narrative centers on Turgut Özben, a cultural mediator and second-generation son of Turkish 'guest workers,' who is searching for the lost manuscript of his aunt Selma Aydin. Selma, a fictional character embodying the real-life stories of first-generation women, was a factory worker, a hidden writer, and a chronicler of the invisible. Her story bundles the voices of thousands who came to Germany and still strive to prove their belonging. Turgut uncovers a network of forgotten biographies, struggles, and collective memories. Inspired by Oğuz Atay's cult novel _Die Haltlosen_ and musically influenced by the award-winning project _Songs of Gastarbeiter_, the piece creates a scenic collage that highlights migration, language, everyday life, exclusion, violence, and community. It serves as an artistic counterpoint to contemporary setbacks, advocating for a new, solidarity-based 'we' and offering empowering stories, powerful sounds, and collective memories in response to current political narratives. Music theater piece that retells the migration history of Germany from the perspective of the often unheard voices more info
What if the history of Germany is retold – from the perspective of those who are often unheard? TEUTONISTAN is music theater that retells migrant history in Germany – empowering, poetic, radical. Live music meets harsh noise, spoken word meets documentary texts, political interventions meet poetic fiction. Interviews, social media clips and historical sources merge with literature and composition to form a score of archive, concert, performance and protest - a multi-voiced, vibrant archive of memories. This creates a scenic collage that makes migration, language, everyday life and the persistence of racism visible and audible – from arrival in a foreign country to linguistic barriers to the continuities of racist violence and right-wing ideologies in the present. At the center of the play is Turgut Özben – cultural mediator and son of the second generation, child of Turkish 'guest workers', who is looking for the lost manuscript of his aunt Selma Aydin. Selma, a fictional character connected to real life stories of first-generation women, was a factory worker, a writer in secret and a chronicler of the invisible. But in her, the voices of thousands of people who came then – and who still have to prove that they belong here – are bundled. Turgut encounters a network of forgotten biographies, struggles and collective memories. Inspired by Oğuz Atay's cult novel _Die Haltlosen_ and musically based on the award-winning project _Songs of Gastarbeiter_, a scenic collage is created that makes migration and language, everyday life and exclusion, violence and community visible – from arriving in a foreign country to language barriers to the continuities of racism and right-wing ideology in the present. While right-wing parties make headlines with 'remigration', TEUTONISTAN counters this - with empowering stories, angry sounds and solidary memories. TEUTONISTAN tells a different German story – from a migrant perspective. An artistic counterpoint to the setbacks of our time. A plea for a new, solidary we. The event features two acts: Anna Setton and Bex Burch & Simon Popp. Anna Setton is a renowned Brazilian Jazz composer, guitarist, and vocalist. She developed her unique voice and musicality in the Sāo Paulo jazz scene and spent five years touring globally with the legendary Toquinho. Her music is a fresh, melodic, and original blend of jazz, bossa nova, and MPB. For this concert, Anna will perform her own compositions and arrangements with her trio, showcasing her powerful and intimate voice. Trio Members: Guitar / Vocals – Anna Setton, Piano – Edu Sangirardi, Drums – Mauro Martins. Bex Burch & Simon Popp: This duo formed after Simon Popp invited Bex Burch to collaborate at the Munich-based improvisation series "Percussive Maintenance" last year. They share a deep fascination and joyful curiosity for sound, play, and improvisation. Their distinct musical languages merge, creating a dynamic interplay between structure and freedom, tension and release, sounds and rhythm. Both artists have been nominated for this year’s Deutscher Jazzpreis. Bex Burch: A composer, percussionist, producer, and improviser who emphasizes space, repetition, and aspects of chaos, describing her approach as "messy minimalism." Her critically acclaimed 2023 solo album, "There is only love and fear," released via Chicago’s International Anthem, was named The Guardian’s Contemporary Album of the Month. She also runs the label and post-punk band Vula Viel, the domestic music event Kantine Musik, and has collaborated with artists like Thomas Sekgura, Leafcutter John, Tamar Osborn, Danalogue, Peter Zummo, Dame Evelyn Glennie, Ben LaMar Gay, Dan Bitney, and Macie Stewart. Simon Popp: A Munich-based drummer and composer who navigates polyrhythmic structures with a keen sense of timing and atmosphere. Popp studied jazz drumming in Munich and explores the intersections of jazz, ambient, and electronic music through his solo work and projects such as Fazer, 9ms, Poeji, and Polygonia & Popp. His solo albums "Laya," "Devi," and "Blizz" have received international acclaim. "The Line Of Best Fit" praised his music as "music you can get totally lost in, where the lines between organic and electric are blurred so as to be indistinguishable." His work has also been recognized by magazines like Clash, Juno, and Ransom Note, and Bleep has compared him to experimental pioneers Philip Glass and Steve Reich. Ticket Information: Presale: 14 € (+ fees), Box Office: 17 €. For individuals with low income, free tickets may be available through KulturRaum München (https://www.kulturraum-muenchen.de).

"proteus 2481" is a sensational premiere of a 2,481-year-old satyr play by Aeschylus and Thomas Köck, presented by the Münchner Kammerspiele more info
"proteus 2481" is a sensational premiere of a 2,481-year-old satyr play by Aeschylus and Thomas Köck, presented by the Münchner Kammerspiele. It is described as the long-lost fourth part and conclusion of the Oresteia. The play was unearthed in Mexico by a classical philologist who found fragments of a Spanish-Latin text, which were then translated and had gaps filled by AI. The production features a chorus of satyrs and Samuel Koch as the mythological quick-change artist Proteus, aiming to turn normal theatre on its head. It involves a Mexican theatre collective, a choir of cognitively and visually impaired actors and musicians, and Kammerspiele ensemble actors who speak Spanish and ancient Greek, all questioning theatre conventions in a satirical party. The work is a commissioned piece for the Kammerspiele by Thomas Köck, who is directing for the first time at the Kammerspiele. The play is noted for its dark merriment, hilarious humor, and scornfully bitter swan song to Western civilization, breaking up traditional text principles, logic, and cause and effect.

The October edition of TUNE is dedicated to the New York City-based musician, mystic, and laughter meditation practitioner Laraaji. On the first evening, Laraaji's performance will be inspired by his album *Ambient 3: Day of Radiance* (1980) more info
In the 1970s, Laraaji began making music on the street, improvising trance-like jams on a modified autoharp, which he processed with electronic effects. Brian Eno discovered him one evening in Washington Square Park and invited him to record an album for his groundbreaking Ambient series, *Ambient 3: Day Of Radiance*, released in 1980. In recent years, his work has been extensively recognized with reissues of his extensive back catalog on labels such as Numero Group, Glitterbeat, and Leaving Records. In 2022, Laraaji was commissioned by artist Cyprien Gaillard to create an ethereal ambient soundscape for his reactivation of Jacques Monestier's *Le Défenseur du Temps* (1979). Just as Gaillard explores a psychedelic space in his works, Laraaji's sound also promotes a form of transcendence and expansion of consciousness, putting listeners in a state of meditative mindfulness. The TUNE events connect to Gaillard's exhibition "Wassermusik," which can be experienced at Haus der Kunst from October 17, 2025. For the second evening, Laraaji will give two profound performances, a laughter workshop for children and adults, and an artist talk. Tickets will be available soon.

A solo performance by and with Lilly-Marie Vogler, exploring the ancient myth of Iphigenia from a new, feminist perspective more info
Locked up in her nursery, Iphigenia awaits her execution and tells her story: It all began with great-great-grandfather Tantalus and a family curse. Two generations later, her father Agamemnon sparked the Trojan War by stealing Helen and angered the goddess Artemis by killing a sacred hind. As punishment, she sends a calm wind: only the sacrifice of Iphigenia can appease her. In her isolation, Iphigenia begins to question her fate - and the system that created it. Can a father who loses himself in military duty still love? Is there a way out of the narrative that only recognizes women as victims, saints or witches? Who is Iphigenia beyond patriarchal myths and foreign attributions? Actress and author Lilly-Marie Vogler pulls back the curtain on the ancient myth and opens a new, feminist chapter in the 2,400-year history of its reception. This is a production of Theater Regensburg (UA 05.10.2024).
The Austrian Nihilists invite you to one of their rare concerts, blending subtle lyrics between party and protest with stylishly playful pop music more info
Dostoyevsky in the disco? The Austrian Nihilists invite you to one of their rare concerts. With their album “Don’t play with the rich kids”, the always ambiguous group Ja, Panik returned as a rock band in 2024. More than 10 years ago, the omniscient musician Kristof Schreuf described the music of the Austrian band from Berlin as “Dostoyevsky at the disco”. Their brand essence is their nihilism “made in Austria”. With subtle lyrics between party and protest and stylishly playful pop music, Ja, Panik have always sought proximity to theater and and the visual arts. After three records with the Berlin label Staatsakt and two with Bureau B from Hamburg, the group Ja, Panik founded their own record label STUDIOS FUER ERWACHSENBILDUNG in Berlin-Schöneweide in the fall of 2024 and released five new pieces under the name “Musik gegen Musik” in early 2025. In cooperation with CLUBZWEI Konzert KG.

At what point does art become propaganda? This is the question that stage director Serge Okunev and actor Hamir Ssemwogerere explore through the lens of their personal histories. Serge Okunev, born in Russia, undertook military service in the Russian army up until 2015. As staff member of a military song and dance troupe, he was involved in staging performances of military songs and folk dances that venerated the Russian “heroes” of ages past. Mixing performance and re-enactment, both creators critically engage with their previous artistic projects while also taking responsibility for their actions at the time.

A fusion of theatre, cabaret and music with Maximilian Schafroth, exploring the fascination of growth through cooperative banks, a giant pumpkin, and Allgäu blues more info
On the fascination of growth. A fusion of theatre, cabaret and music with Maximilian Schafroth. An evening featuring cooperative banks, a giant pumpkin and Allgäu blues. Maximilian Schafroth is known for his sharp and tender perspective and sees himself as a mediator of the friction between town and country. For his debut theatre piece, he is evoking the world down on the farm as well as everyday life in the state capital. And to do so, he is dumping a field into the theatre, inviting the audience to witness the merger of two cooperative banks and cultivating a giant pumpkin that leads to seriously frayed tempers. The same rule applies in the countryside and the city: those who fail to move with the times die out. Either milk (the system) and skim (the profits) – or make way for others. Everyone is labouring under this pressure, but while some jump on the bandwagon, others dig in to try and resist displacement. Is it possible that the dramas of everyday life in the village are not so different from those in the city after all? For this performance, the Kammerspiele ensemble is merging with Maximilian Schafroth’s own team to create an evening of musical theatre ranging from raucous Allgäu blues to traditional trio singing from the outback of Old Bavaria.

A lyrical-musical evening by Deepika Arwind & Melis Çom more info
A lyrical-musical evening by Deepika Arwind & Melis Çom. An evening between language and sound, dream and reality, resistance and tenderness. Deepika Arwind's poetic text explores questions of origin, belonging, and colonial heritage – fragmented, political, vulnerable. It is a speaking at the edge of language, in the space between languages, in an attempt to find a new one. The harp – played by Melis Çom – responds: sometimes whispering, sometimes rebellious, sometimes comforting. It is not an accompaniment, but a dialogue partner. Its sounds comment, contradict, reinforce what is said – and open a space for togetherness. What could the world look like if we started listening to each other? Perhaps like a sound that not only answers but transforms. Perhaps like this evening – an attempt, a quiet beginning.

This project explores contrasts, where minimalist aesthetics meet stark, high-contrast visuals, and impassioned lyrics combine dadaistic and political themes. RUHR creates a space where sound is a powerful force for expression and defiance, evoking a vision of sensuality intertwined with industrial resonance—a rhythmic pulse of rebellion and social upheaval. The repetitive structures in their music inspire a primal dance, resonating with the spirit of unrest and the yearning for change. Utilizing synthesizers and a drum machine, Shocked Volk combines cold electronic sounds with post-punk, generating an atmosphere that echoes brutality, distress, and the senselessness of war. In April 2025, the debut album “War/Alarm!” was self-released on cassette, featuring 8 new songs and pressed in 100 copies. Related Link: https://shockedvolk.bandcamp.com/album/war-alarm
A fusion of theatre, cabaret and music with Maximilian Schafroth, exploring the fascination of growth through cooperative banks, a giant pumpkin, and Allgäu blues more info
"Wachse oder weiche" is an evening that fuses theatre, cabaret, and music, featuring Maximilian Schafroth. The performance delves into the fascination of growth, presenting a sharp and tender perspective on the friction between town and country. Schafroth, known for his mediating approach, brings to the stage a world that combines farm life with the everyday realities of the state capital. The play involves a field being brought into the theatre, an audience witnessing the merger of two cooperative banks, and the cultivation of a giant pumpkin that leads to seriously frayed tempers. The central theme explores the pressure to adapt or be replaced, applicable to both rural and urban settings. The Kammerspiele ensemble collaborates with Maximilian Schafroth’s team to create a musical theatre experience, ranging from lively Allgäu blues to traditional trio singing from Old Bavaria. This performance continues the Kammerspiele's tradition of combining drama and political cabaret, a tradition established in 1924 and shaped by figures like Karl Valentin, Liesl Karlstadt, Gerhard Polt, and the Biermösl Blosn. Maximilian Schafroth, who began his stage career in youth theatre at the Kammerspiele, returns after touring with his own show, serving as the Lenten Preacher at Nockherberg from 2019 to 2025, and voicing the animated character of Pumuckl. Schafroth emphasizes the role of arts in dissolving polarization with \"bubbling creativity.\" The performance will have English surtitles starting from November 4th.
